This Privacy Policy explains how Language Story (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile app and related services.

1. Summary

Most stories, vocabulary, and progress are stored on your device unless you use features that call our servers.
We assign an anonymous account ID (via Supabase Auth) to secure API access and link subscriptions.
AI features send the text you submit to our server and OpenAI for processing.
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play and RevenueCat; we do not receive card numbers.
We may use PostHog for product analytics when enabled in the app build.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate the Service, enforce subscriptions, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and understand product usage. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Service providers

Supabase — authentication and entitlement database
RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase events
Google Play — billing
OpenAI — AI and text-to-speech processing for features you request
PostHog — optional product analytics
Hosting providers — API and static site hosting (e.g. Render)

Providers process data under their own terms and only as needed to deliver the Service.

5. Data retention

Server logs and usage records are kept for a limited period for security and operations. Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Subscription records are retained as required for billing and legal compliance.

6. Your choices

Local data: Export or wipe app data from Settings (device backup JSON).
Subscriptions: Manage or cancel in Google Play.
Notifications: Trial reminders are optional on the paywall; system notification permission is required.
Analytics: When PostHog is not configured in a build, analytics events are not sent.

7. Account and data deletion

To request deletion of server-side account and entitlement data associated with your anonymous user ID, email support@languagestory.app from the address you used to contact us (if any), or include your Google Play order ID if available. You can remove local data immediately using Settings → backup/wipe on your device.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International users

Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
